Show at Oasis Coffee Spot: 9/28/2013

Cynthia Haring & Tampa Bay World Nation performed selections from their new "Doo Wop, Pop & Swing" CD on September 28, 2013 at Oasis Coffee Spot in New Port Richey. The CD, Cruisin’ in My Wagon: A Journey through Doo Wop, Pop & Swing, includes 15 classic nostalgia songs, three originals, and features a group of singers, ages 5-19 known as the Tampa Bay World Nation (TBWN) singers.

The making of the album was a journey of dedication and perseverance for the children and the group directors - Cynthia Haring, a music teacher in Pasco County, and Katia Valdeos, an ESOL Lead Teacher in Hernando County. Haring says that Doo Wop can be a challenge but special guest appearances by Steve Horne (Doo Wop Mob), Richie Merritt (the Marcels), and Bobby Hendricks (the Drifters) made it possible for the group to hear and sing all of the parts on the Doo Wop songs.

The group recently welcomed two new singers: Lexi Burkley, 21, who performs with the all-female group, Toast of Tampa, and Savannah Meier, 9, a student at Trinity Elementary. The youngest member of the group, Celeste Orellana, 8, attends school in Hillsborough County.
